Cheers to a Happy Sweet New Year

The Jewish New Year starts tomorrow and I really feel like it is the start of a new chapter for me. This past Friday I made the final decision to withdraw from my BS in Accessories Design at FIT. I will be taking the year off to gain work experience and develop my blog. I will be applying to the Direct and Interactive Marketing program at FIT for next fall.

Where it all began…

When I started thinking about transferring programs a few weeks ago, I almost didn’t let myself go there. I thought how could I switch now? It is to LATE. If I don’t continue the program now, then I won’t graduate until I am 27! And I have already changed my career path 2x. How can I do it again? What will people think of me? Will people still be interested in following me on Instagram and reading my blog if I’m not at FIT? What if I withdraw and I don’t like it?!

All these thoughts were running through my head. I was afraid to even voice them. I was so nervous to hear what Ben had to say because he was the first person I went to because it would change our “plan”. Thankfully he was very supportive and heard where I was coming from and gave me the encouragement to look into my options. I then spoke to my Career Advisor at FIT to see which programs would fit my needs and wants. I wanted a program that focused on digital media marketing because after working on my blog and running my mom’s social media I realized that I had an interest in learning more.

My advisor was extremely helpful and over the course of 3 weeks I met with him multiple times and he helped me go about making the changes properly. My parents were extremely supportive and thought the change was a great idea! So on Friday I withdrew and made it official! It was a really big deal but so far I am very happy with my decision.

My words of wisdom …

Through this whole process I learned a few things and I would like to share them with you. First and foremost IT IS NEVER TO LATE. My mom has been my biggest inspiration for that. She is now the Creative Director for La Perla and only started her journey 5 years ago. So again IT IS NEVER TO LATE TO MAKE YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE.

You are never to old for school or to make a career change. You need to do what will make YOU happy. So don’t be afraid to explore different options and to ask questions or get advice from people who are older and wiser.

Lastly, don’t be afraid of what people think. It is YOUR LIFE. You need to do for YOU.

I am very thankful that I have gotten positive feedback and support from my family, friends and followers. Thank you for that and I hope that I have inspired others to make a change if they are feeling like they need it.

I want to wish you all a happy sweet new year. I look forward to continuing my journey with you all and I thank you again for taking the time to read my post!

Cheers,

Batsheva
